Jane came into this world on an extremely warm day, August 31, 1947. She was greeted by her older (two weeks senior) cousin, Elizabeth Keegan. They were gifted with their first and lifelong friendship.

As Jane grew, it was clear she developed a strong empathy for others and an interest in the culinary arts. This became her career in food services. She was employed by many area medical facilities. Her baked goods were enjoyed by all, with a specialty in cookies and cinnamon rolls.

As Julie, Jane's sister, grew her family, Jane took on the role of involved and active Aunt to her nephew, John, and niece, Katherine. John and Jane developed an especially tight bond, which continued through adulthood.

One Christmas season, after a long search by her son, Mark Filzen, he found Jane. This began a wonderful relationship with Mark and his family which enriched, blessed, and fulfilled her life in many ways.

Jane was a zealous cat lover. She owned many furry companions over the years and treasured each one.

We will miss Jane's strong opinions and her readiness to share them.

Jane is survived by her sister, Margret Hesler Hynes; son, Mark (Angela) Filzen; grandson, Mason; brother-in-law, Frank Buchmann; niece, Katherine (Jason) Tillman; nephew, John (Brenda) Buchmann; her cousins, Elizabeth Keegan Stonefield (Stephen), Tad Keegan (Jackie), Mary Elizabeth Pitz; and cousin-in-law, Lenard Aronson. She is predeceased by her parents, John Farson Hesler and Ruth Keegan Hesler; her sister, Julie Hesler Buchmann; brother-in-law, Richard Hynes; and cousin, Anne Keegan Aronson.

Celebration of Life is planned for February 28, 2026. Please call Margret at (815) 963-8183 for information.
