Jane Howell

Jane Ellen Smith Howell was born August 23, 1947 in Leonard, Texas. She had been a resident of Van most of her life and was a member of Van Church of Christ. She was a well-known, talented barber, starting her career in the early 80's at Ramona's Styling Salon. She then cut hair at the Jenny's Barber Shop and Jane's Barber Shop. She enjoyed working in her flower beds and playing with her little buddy, Billy.

Jane passed away at the age of 78 on March 19, 2026. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ardie Howell; grandson, Carson Freeman; father, Purvis Smith; mother, Anna Yowell Smith; stepmother, Maxine Smith; and sister, Joyce McEuen.

Survivors include her daughter, Jennifer Freeman of Van; stepson, Jimmy Connerley; stepdaughter, Julie Rozell and husband, Robbie; grandson, Cole Freeman; step grandchildren, Ashley Rozell and Hayden Rozell; niece, Debbie Condor; nephews, David Wayne Womack and Stephen Womack; numerous other family members and friends.

A celebration of life will be held for Jane in the upcoming days – service details will be updated when available.
