Jane Marion (Wakeley) Johnson, a longtime resident of Andover and beloved wife of the late Donald E. Johnson, passed away at the High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill on Friday afternoon, January 30, 2026. She was 91 years old.

Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on February 15, 1934, Jane was the daughter of the late Philip C. and Christine (Carlson) Wakeley. She was a graduate of Cornell University, where she met her husband, Donald. After earning her Bachelor of Science degree, Jane worked as a bacteriologist in a nutrition laboratory and at the Scott Air Force Base Hospital while Don served in the Air Force. Jane later earned her Masters degree in microbial genetics at Cornell.

Jane served as the Infection Control Practitioner for the Hale Hospital in Haverhill for more than 20 years, and later worked in a local cardiology office. Jane was active in the league of Women's Voters and did some tutoring for disabled children. She played handbells for 40+ years at South Church in Andover, and enjoyed many activities at the Andover Senior Center, including quilting, bridge, strength training, and genealogy. Jane was an avid reader and stamp collector.

Jane is survived by her loving daughters, Laura W. Johnson-Kelly of Candor, New York and Gwenith A. (Gregory) Levanti of Bedford, New Hampshire, grandchildren Michael and Natasha Levanti (Edmund Gavaghan), Cynthia, Diana, Owen (Taylor), and Linnaea Kelly, and many nieces and nephews. Jane was predeceased by her siblings Tendon, Patricia, and James Wakeley, and Mary Berckhan.

Jane's funeral service will be celebrated at South Church, 41 Central Street, Andover, on May 30th, 2026 at 10am. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Interment will follow the service in the Spring Grove Cemetery in Andover. Donations in Jane's memory may be made to the Robb Senior Center, 30 Whittier Ct, Andover MA 01810.
