God introduced Jane Ann Wright (nee Lee) to this broken world in
Memphis, TN, November 22, 1963, at 5:30 PM Central Time. It was an historic date both because of her birth and for the amazing array of personalities that God had to remove from this orb seemingly to make room for precious Jane Ann. At 11:30 AM (Central Time) CS Lewis, the 20th century's great Christian apologist, passed away in Great Britain. An hour later, at 12:30 PM (Central Time), in
Dallas, Texas, an assassin's bullet ended the life of President John F. Kennedy. Jane Ann's birth followed, but seemingly even more room was needed to accommodate the gift that Jane Ann represented, and Aldous Huxley, author of Brave New World, was called home to eternity from Los Angeles at 7:21 pm (Central Time).
Only then could the world find room for the sweet and marvelous soul whose life and death we celebrate today.
Jane Ann passed from this life too soon, on March 21, 2023, leaving an amazing network of friends and loved ones, each of whom has a wealth of stories of how this saintly woman touched their lives and, so often, the lives of those who hardly knew her if at all. Her children can tell of Christmas Eves when Jane Ann dispatched her family, each armed with a $100 bill, to the local Walmart looking for seemingly distraught parents, whose demeanor reflected an intense desire to purchase for their children gifts which the stranger simply could not afford. Upon finding the desperate soul, Jane Ann directed her children to place his or her $100 bill in the anxious parent's hand, together with a sweet smile and a reminder that Jesus loved them. As John says of Jesus, books could be written of this beautiful woman's kindness, but this obituary has not the room. (John 21:25.)
Jane Ann was a beloved paralegal with a decided penchant for working with difficult lawyers: they were putty in her elegant hands. In later years she became an exceptionally talented and successful realtor, excelling in sales for Charlotte Smith Realty in Jackson and then for Wright & Company Real Estate. In her sweetness she ministered to her clients as surely as she moved their real estate.
Jane Ann leaves a devastated but blessed family: husband J. Stephen Wright; sons Daniel (Abbey), Michael (Dana), Nathan (Heidi), Judson (Kaitlin); daughter Katherine; sister Christian Lee; mother Sara Lee Craft (Robert); nephews Nicholas Butler (Deanna), Forrest Butler (Madison), Noah (Anna); grandchildren Marianna, Emma Kate, Parker, Darby, Collins, Benjamin and Samuel Wright.
Her father Joseph Lee and stepmother Mary Lee predeceased Jane Ann, but on many a December 25, Jane Ann hosted "Joseph and Mary" for Christmas Dinner.
In Jane Ann Wright, we met, knew and loved a "wife of noble character." Proverbs 31:10.
May her tribe increase.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2023, at Calvary Baptist Church in Jackson with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m.
A graveside Service will follow at Jessamine Cemetery in Ridgeland.
