My sincere and heartfelt condolences to Jane's children and Martha and Bruce and their families. I will always have the fondest memories of Janie growing up in our neighborhood in Houlton. We always enjoyed her visits with Polly to our house, Jane was a very special and talented person of great spirit. She will be sadly missed.

I knew Jane through my daughter Sheri. Always felt Jane was full of grace and love. Her caring for others was apparent. Hearts go out to her loved ones.

Jane was part of our Hebron family. She was always a positive influence and had a wonderful smile. I last saw Jane at a neighborhood affair and she was still the smiling positive person I remembered from high school. I am greatly saddened by her passing and our community will miss her dearly.

One of my favorite people at HA , She had a huge smile , even bigger laugh - and never had anything but something good to say ! I too am deeply saddened and my prayers go out to her family and also all her friends , who will miss this great lady .

We are so sadden to hear of the loss of such a beautiful lady. My mom and I was truly blessed to have met Jane and her beautiful family 9 years ago. She was truly a wonderful person inside and out. We will never forget her and her contagious smile and big heart. She will always be in our hearts and thoughts forever. Thank you Jane and her wonderful family for all your beautiful friendships over these 9 years and still to this very day. Our friendship has turned into extended family to us. You always asked how our family was and you always gave my kids little gifts to see them smile. We love you all so very much and thank you for your wonderful friendships. We are truly blessed to have met you and worked for you all and be able to also see Lucy and Peter grow up over the 9 years it has been wonderful and it is like watching our own kids growing up. We send our love, thoughts and prayers to you Jane and to all her beautiful family during this hard time. We will miss you very much dear friend. May you be at peace Jane. Lots of love.

Was very surprised and saddened to receive news about Jane's passing. Saw her at our 35th Bowdoin reunion on June 4, 2016. We reminisced and shared a few happy stories about our time together at Hebron and at Bowdoin. Jane had a pleasant personality and beautiful smile that warmed many hearts. My condolences to her family. God rest her soul.

I did not know Jane personally, but know many people who speak of what an amazing individual she was. There are many of us in the recovery community who appreciate immeasurably the honesty of this obituary, which does not hide the struggles she endured with the fatal disease of alcoholism. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family.

The world is a sadder place with Jane not here. She was a beautiful woman, inside and out. We all ache with the loss. Our hearts go out to all her family.

This pitch-perfect obit does such a good job capturing how beautiful, brilliant, gifted and loving Jane was. I would add that she was one of the kindest, most compassionate women I know. As someone who was on the receiving end of her kindness, I can only say my heart is broken knowing that Jane McKay is no longer in this world.
