Mary “Jane” Meek, 77, of Grove City, Ohio, passed away on January 6, 2026, at Mount Carmel Hospital.

Jane was born December 8, 1948, at home in the log cabin she grew up in at Coalgate Hollow in Hocking County, Ohio, to the late Clarence and Isabelle Matheny. Jane graduated from York High School in 1966. On February 25, 1967, she married the love of her life, Tommy Gene Meek, with whom she spent 52 wonderful years, until he preceded her in death in 2019.

Jane was also preceded in death by her daughter and best friend, Nancy Meek; brothers, Harry and Lewis Matheny; sisters, Florence Burton, Betsy Ross, and Beulah Jean Matheny; sisters-in-law, Candy Matheny and Tracy Matheny; and brother-in-law, Larry Wolfe.

Jane is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Danielle Meek of DeGraff; granddaughters, Rebecca (Billy) Newland of Tipp City and Dianna (Ryen Flint) Meek of San Anselmo, CA; grandson, Tommy Meek of DeGraff; sisters, Sandra Wolfe and Patricia (Chuck) Walker; brother, Phillip Matheny; brother-in-law, Mike Burton; sisters-in-law, Connie (Gary) Barber and Myrna Matheny; along with many special nieces, nephews, cousins, family members, and her close friends, Sharon and Danny Nunley, Judy and Don Robinson, and Lisa Baker.

Jane retired from Columbia Gas Company, having the pleasure of working some of those years alongside her daughter, Nancy. After retirement, Jane enjoyed working in her garden, spending the holidays with family and friends, and attending Grandparents Day at school each year for Rebecca, Dianna, and Tommy (making sure she arrived early to get a front-row seat). She enjoyed casino day trips with Nancy, Jamie, Sheila, and Pat; being with family; and attending annual high school reunions. Jane loved daily phone calls and texts from family and friends, especially her nightly texts with her nephew, Rick. She loved angels, cardinals, and her family—especially her husband and soulmate, Tom; her son, “Tommy” (of whom she was very proud); her beautiful daughter, Nancy; and her “grandbabies.” Jane will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Reception in Grove City. Rick Wolfe will officiate the funeral following the visitation at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be at Concord Cemetery.
