JOHN AND STEFFANIE HAUEISEN

October 1, 2025

Our friendship with Jane and Harvey began because of the Worthington Historical Society of which we were all members. At "Study Group" meetings we heard wonderful stories from the joined lives of Jane and Harvey. My favorite one was when Jane took me aside saying, "John, when Harvey and I lived in Toledo and later here in Worthington, we used to entertain artists and musicians who had just finished their concert.
One night, we brought home Henry Mancini and several members of his orchestra. I was wearing a pink jumpsuit--John, don't be shocked--that was very fashionable at that time. As I carried a casserole from the kitchen to the dining room, I heard strange sounds behind me. They sounded like 'ba bump, ba bump, ba bump te tump te dump da da da dah, ...da da da da.' It was Mancini's saxophonist crawling along on the floor behind me--mimicking the sounds of the movie, 'The Pink Panther.' I almost dropped the casserole; and it was not an ordinary casserole. It was one of my masterworks!"
That is the wonderful sense of humor that Jane always had, and Harvey was so fortunate to have such a person as his life partner.

She frequently spoke of Jenny, who has helped so much to see that she was "looked after." Jenny even took her now and then to visit Harvey's grave. Thank you, wonderful daughter.
