Jane Cline Mundy

Jane Lee Cline Mundy, 99, passed away November 1, 2025, at White Birch Communities, Harrisonburg, where she had been a resident since November 1, 2021. Jane was born on August 31, 1926, and she was raised on the Meadow Run Dairy Farm, New Hope, Virginia. She was the 7th of D. Arlie and Mary Cline's ten children. All of her growing-up years she faithfully attended Middle River Church of the Brethren.
Jane is predeceased by her husband, C.H. Mundy Jr., whom she married July 6, 1946, and her only son Jerry W. Mundy.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Sandra M. and Robert W. Cleaver, Clear Brook Virginia and Mary Jane and Samuel N. Cox, Jr. Pineville, Virginia; 2 sisters, Nell C. Wright, Weyers Cave, Virginia, and Ruth C. Talmage(Robert), Staunton, Virginia; eight beloved grandchildren, Tanya Jane Thompson(Mark), Terri C. Alsina(George), Samuel N. (Chip) Cox III, Jill M. Browning(John),Tammy C. Eckard(Craig), Zachary W. Mundy(Katya), Claudia C. Phillips(Stacy) and Anay C. Beck(Brian); 18 beloved great-grandchildren and two beloved great-great-grandsons and many beloved nieces and nephews.
After coming to Rockingham as a nineteen-year-old bride, Jane was a lifelong member of Mill Creek Church of the Brethren where she helped start the first young adult Sunday school class, taught Sunday school and bible school, was a youth advisor, a Deacon, a church council member and a congregational song leader. She loved singing and knew nearly all the verses of the old hymns by heart.
Some of Jane's most cherished years were spent teaching first and second grades at Grottoes Elementary School. She was passionate about the love of and care for her students. After she retired, she continued substitute teaching, Hospice volunteering, raising prizeworthy tomatoes, vegetables and flowers and hosting her extended family on special occasions and holidays.
As a farmer's daughter and a farmer's wife she always referred to herself as "just an ole ordinary countrywoman". In the words of one of her nieces, "she was loving and kind hearted and a true Christian lady".
A memorial service will be conducted on November 15, 2025, 10AM, at Mill Creek Church of the Brethren. Burial will be private.
