Jane Ray McGinnis Lessley

Jane Ray McGinnis Lessley passed away Saturday, January 29, 2022, at Huntsville Hospital's Hospice Care Unit. She was born and raised in Birmingham AL. She married Herman Louis Lessley in 1952. Jane and Louis had three children before moving to Huntsville in 1963. Following the death of her husband in 1967 Jane went to work for the U. S. Army Audit Agency at Redstone Arsenal. Jane was a member of Latham United Methodist Church. She was a good-hearted person and always took care of her family and friends. Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Louis Lessley; her parents, Hazel and Rex McGinnis; her brother, Rex; and longtime special friend, Al Lege. She is survived by her children, Michael Lessley of Houston, TX, Carol Lessley of Atlanta, GA, and Barry Lessley (Kim) of Huntsville; her beloved granddaughters, Leah of Houston, TX and Melissa of Huntsville; and her precious great-granddaughter, Grace. Other survivors include her sister, Linda Ryerson; sister-in-law, Jackie McGinnis; and nine nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 3 at Latham United Methodist Church in Huntsville, AL, with the memorial service immediately following. A graveside services will be held on Friday, February 4, 2022, at 1 p.m. at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville, AL. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Latham United Methodist Church.
