Jane Richardson Obituary

Jane Ryder Richardson passed away peacefully at her home in Boise, Idaho, on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at the age of 85.

Born on April 27, 1940, in Baker City, Oregon, to William and Helen Ryder, Jane was one of four children. She grew up in Baker City and cherished time spent at her grandparents' ranch in Haines, where her love for horses began. As a young adult, she was honored as the Rodeo Princess in North Powder, Oregon.

Jane earned her bachelor's degree in music from the University of Oregon, where she met Gary Richardson. They married on September 9, 1961, and shared 62 devoted years together. They raised four children-Rodney, Randall, Timothy, and Julie-in Meridian, Idaho.

A dedicated music educator, Jane taught choir in the Meridian School District for many years, with most of her career spent at Lake Hazel Elementary. She earned her master's degree in music through continuing education and led her students to top marks at competitions.

Jane was deeply involved in her children's lives-attending games, hosting teammates, and baking treats for players. She created a cherished family cookbook filled with her beloved recipes. Her culinary talents were especially remembered during the holidays for dishes like homemade chili and her famous pies.

Jane had a lifelong passion for golf. She and Gary built their home on the 13th hole of the Plantation Golf Course. She earned the nickname "Drano Jano" for her putting skills and even scored a hole-in-one in 1999. She served as President of the PLGA and shared her love of the game with her daughter Julie.

Jane is survived by her children Rod (Angela), Tim (Tonya), and Julie; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; her sister Susan; and several extended family members. She was preceded in death by her infant son Randy, husband Gary, parents Helen and William, sister Kathy, brother Jack, and other beloved relatives.

A Celebration of Life will be held at The River Club on January 16, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
