Jane Teagarden Obituary

Jane Winona Sheller Teagarden, 82, of Finleyville, formerly of Claysville, passed away peacefully, after a lengthy battle of pancreatic cancer and Alzheimer's disease, Monday, November 24, 2025. Born June 6, 1943 in Washington, she was a daughter of the late Gaylord and Mae Sheller. She was the loving Mama to Melissa Teagarden of Finleyville; beloved Nana to Julian Yetter of Finleyville; sister to Samuel (Marilyn) Sheller of Fairfax, Va. and Gene (Consuelo) Sheller of West Alexander; sister-in-law to Brian Teagarden of Washington; aunt to Maria Sheller of Alliance Ohio, Gena Sheller of Washington, Samantha (Nathaniel) Dye of Chardon, Ohio, and Matt (Casey) Teagarden of McMurray; great-aunt to Isaac Mayen, Adeline Dye, Julia Teagarden, and Paige Teagarden. She was previously deceased by her husband of 61 years, Bernard Teagarden; a son, Timothy Teagarden; her brother, Donald Sheller; and her sister-in-law, Kathryn Teagarden. Jane dedicated her life to caring for others, beginning at the Washington Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a pediatric nurse, later earning her Bachelor's degree in Education. She then taught pediatric nursing. She later served as a substitute school nurse at McGuffey High and Middle schools, and then worked at local dentist's offices in Claysville and Washington until retiring. Jane had a true passion for music and spent her life sharing that gift with others. She enjoyed playing the saxophone in high school marching band, playing and teaching the piano, and proudly served her church as an organist in her youth. She loved to sing, and did so every day. Jane had a soft spot for animals, especially cats, and she was always happiest with her pet nearby. In her free time, Jane loved to host others at her home, and absolutely loved her farm. Her home was very much "the place to be," so much so that Melissa's friends called her "Mama Jane." Jane loved playing games, especially cards or trivial pursuit. She enjoyed going for long walks on her farm or at the beach, as well swimming, and spending time with her family on vacations in Ocean City, Md. Jane also had a well- known love of sweets and never turned down a treat. Jane loved her family and cherished every moment spent with them. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 12 p.m. Saturday, December 6, in Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Washington City Mission. All arrangements were entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care.

Jane is my first cousin. We spent time when we were children together at the farm. I stayed there several times in summers. I also attended Washington Hospital School of Nursing. She graduated the year before me. I visited her a few years ago while she and Bernie were still on the farm. We had a wonderful day. Condolences, love & peace to all the family. Karen Strope Magee
