In Loving Memory of
Jane "Jayne" Thompson
September 23, 1955 - December 8, 2025
Jayne, age 70, of
Mahnomen, MN, was welcomed into God's loving embrace on our Holy Mother Mary's Immaculate Conception, December 8th surrounded by family, faith and love after a long battle of Alzheimer's at Arbor Lane Memory Care Facility in
Burnsville, MN.
Born in
Mahnomen, MN at the 'old hospital' to Dorothy Walz and Gregory Thielen. Jayne lived a life defined by her love of family, friends and helping others. Jayne will be remembered for her unwavering kindness, incredible faith and her deep love for her family, especially her granddaughters.
Jayne married her high school sweetheart/forever love, Frank Thompson on February 11, 1977. Life was not always easy, but it was rooted in love and support for one another. They enjoyed traveling, going to multiple music concerts and sporting events. Spending time at their cabin on White Earth Lake, with family and friends, was one of the favorite ways Jayne enjoyed using her time. Frank and Jayne were blessed with 4 children: Alicia, Melissa, Gabriel and Elliot. She was a loving mother, who ALWAYS made time for her children and grandchildren. The life lessons she taught her children - humility, honesty, resilience, gratitude, and love, will remain with us forever.
An adoring "Oma", Jayne was so happy to be a grandmother to her 6 special sweet ladies. She glowed every chance she could share in one of their events or activities. She was happy to join in a dance session on the pontoon, a card or board game, and reading stories but what she loved most was giving a granddaughter a bath, tucking them in at night and saying goodnight prayers. Oma was and will continue to be the steady heart of her family. The unconditional love, unwavering faith and generosity will be the pillars her legacy will leave.
She worked for 40+ years at Wild Rice Electric in a variety of roles and her co-workers were like an extension of her family. Jayne was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church where she was involved with Catholic Daughters, Eucharistic Ministry, Faith Formation teacher and many other things.
Even though her Alzheimer's robbed Jayne of memories and time, what shines most brightly about her is not just what she accomplished, but how she lived - with purpose, humility and an open heart. Her faith was a constant guiding light in her life and something not even Alzheimer's could take away from her. She was always ready for a hug and gave the best ones which were shared generously with family and friends. She never met a "stranger" as Jayne was a friend to everyone she met and greeted them with a big welcoming smile. Her steadfast love for the Lord and her spirit of service touched everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
Jayne is survived by her husband, Frank; daughter, Melissa (Michael) Loch; and son, Elliot (Kayla) Thompson; along with her pride and joy, her 6 granddaughters: Alicia, Amy, Abigail, Audrey Loch, and Nora and Leta Thompson; her siblings: Jack Pannell (Sandy), Mary Kay Jappe (Abe), Margie Larson (Dan), Gregory "GG" Thielen, Marcus "Butch" Thielen (Kim), and Joanie Bruggeman (Rick); mother-in-law, Nora "Jane" Thompson; sister-in-law, S. Diane Kochmann (James); brother-in-law, Mike Thompson (Zetta); and many cherished nieces, nephews, Godchildren and friends.
She is welcomed into God's loving arms by her daughter, Alicia and her son, Gabriel; her parents, Greg and Dorothy; her brother, Paul Pannell; her father-in-law, Donald Thompson; her sister-in-law, JoAnn Cook; and Goddaughter, Kelsey Kjos.
A celebration of life will be held Friday, December 19, 2025, from 5-7pm at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Mahnomen. Please wear Jayne's favorite color, yellow if you so choose. The prayer service will begin at 6:30. There will be a rosary said in Jayne's honor after the prayer service. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at St. Michaels Catholic Church on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 10:00am. There will be a luncheon immediately following mass in the church fellowship hall. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
May you all take the time, in any event, to appreciate the moments of Joy, whether they happen naturally or need to be created. "Find Joy in the small moments". "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7
