Janel and I were Best Friends Forever (BFFs) throughout grade and high school. We went through Beatlemania, folk singing, church camp, the Presbyterian Church in Macomb, everything kids and teenagers. She was always the best and kindest person. I saw her whenever I was in Macomb and spoke on the phone recently. Her passing leaves a hole in my heart. My deepest sympathy to Jean, Emily and Tom. Macomb has lost one of its finest citizens. I hope we see each other again, Janel. I love you dearly.

Janel was a great friend; really a sister to me. We traveled together back in our residency in Mississippi at the VA and UMC Consortium. These were among the most innocent and yet exciting adventures I have ever had. We stayed in touch ever since, for the last 36 years. I attended her wedding. I last spoke with her a few months ago. Her spirit was full of life, her mind was brilliant as ever. She always brought out the very best in me. She was always honest, direct, compassionate, tolerant, a loyal student of applied behavioral analysis, a fine researcher and clinician, a truly decent human being.
