Janet J. Beford

SPENCER: Janet Joyce Beford, 70, died Friday, August 1st after a short illness, surrounded by her family. Throughout her illness, she was cared for by her devoted niece, Brenda. Janet leaves behind her loving siblings; Suzanne Hayden and her husband David of North Brookfield, Jean Decoteau and her husband John of North Brookfield, Pierre Beford, Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Spencer. She was predeceased by her brother John in 2008, her mother Pearl (Boudreau) Beford in 1992, her father Pierre Beford in 2016, and the love of her life Bruce Ethier in February of 2025. Janet is survived by many beloved nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and nephews. She held a special place in her heart for her niece Brenda Lacaire, nephew Kevin Hayden and her late niece Ann Decoteau. She was a devoted "great" aunt to the children of Brenda and Kevin. She worked for over 30 years at Mapfre Insurance on their policy services team, retiring in 2022, following her earlier career at Worcester Insurance. After retiring, Janet enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, especially relaxing on her back deck with Bruce, appreciating the peace of the day. Janet had a deep love for Fox News and a creative talent for stained glass art. She also shared with Bruce a passion for Toyota trucks and Land Cruisers. She treasured the holidays, particularly Christmas and Halloween. She had a special fondness for witches, the Halloween kind, and loved collecting all things "witchy", a tradition she shared with her nieces Meg and Emily. Janet's chocolate pudding dessert was a beloved family favorite and could always be counted on to bring a big batch to every family gathering. A joint celebration of life will be held for Janet and her beloved Bruce Ethier, who died February 2025. Bruce was cremated and services were postponed due to Janet's illness. A private graveside service will be held in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton at the convenience of the family.
