Janet Lee Brochhagen, 70 of Martinsville, passed from her earthly life while in the comfort of her own home and with her daughters by her side on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at 8:35 am. Janet is one of four children and the only daughter born to the late RB Stephey and Elizabeth Ann (Richardson) Stephey. Her life began on Sunday, January 20, 1952, in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Janet spent her childhood in Brooklyn and graduated from Martinsville High School with the class of 1970. In 1975, she moved to Florida, where she lived, worked and raised her daughters from 1975-2000. While in Florida, Janet worked as a residential District Property Manager at Alliance Property Management for many years.
She was a lifelong, avid reader and she loved to ballroom dance with her late husband Bob. Janet enjoyed attending the Spirit of Life Church in Martinsville.
She leaves behind a loving family and dear friends who will miss her dearly including her two daughters, Stephani Lyn Toms of Martinsville and Nicole Leigh (husband, Jay McLauchlin) Samel of Tampa, FL; two brothers, Bobbie Stephey and Robbie (wife, Shelly) Stephey all of Martinsville; and seven grandchildren.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob Brochhagen, and one brother, Mike Stephey.
Her family has chosen to honor her wishes for cremation and burial. They will be hosting a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at a later date and Janet will be buried beside her parents in Centerton Cemetery.
