Janet Harshfield Burch, affectionately known as Jan, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2024, in Manassas, Virginia, at the age of 70. Jan lived a life dedicated to family, community, and a love for all creatures, great and small.
Throughout her life, Jan faced several long-term illnesses, yet she approached each challenge with remarkable strength and grace. She never complained and remained steadfast in her commitment to supporting her family, friends, and the various organizations she cherished. Her indomitable spirit and relentless work ethic served as an inspiration to those around her.
Jan's love for animals was evident throughout her life. She was a devoted pet owner, sharing her home with a dog, a cat, and hundreds of fish that thrived in several large aquariums. She embraced her role as a "fish mom" with joy and dedication. Jan was known for her active involvement in several local clubs and organizations. Often assuming leadership roles, she took her responsibilities seriously and worked diligently to improve the lives of others within her community.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Burch (married 51 years); her three children, Christopher, Randall, and Amber; and her grandchildren. She will be remembered not only for her unwavering love and dedication but also for her deep compassion and unyielding spirit.
