Janet L. Chester, 85, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 29, 2023 at her home in rural Wyandotte, OK following a few years of declining health. Janet was born in rural Carthage, MO on April 26, 1938 to Clarence W. and Leatha (Hornback) Pickering.

Janet was raised on a dairy farm helping her family with all aspects of farm life including the milking of the cows and farming with Allis Chalmers WD-45 tractors. She graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1956.

She married Kenneth L. Chester on December 23, 1956 and they made their home in the Seneca-Wyandotte area.

Janet was a true homemaker making use of everything and making everything go as far as possible, sewing clothes and canning/freezing garden and orchard produce. Through the years she had a home bakery/delivery business (especially breads and pies), sold Stanley Home Products along with being a Farmerette disking ground, stepping off spreading widths for fertilizer or hauling grain to the elevator during harvest. During hay harvest she fixed meals for everyone helping. She retired from Blitz USA/U.S. Metal Company in Miami where she welded five gallon "Jerry" gas containers and other metal products then later working in quality control as a test tank operator. She became caretaker of her parents when they began having health problems.

She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and celebrated their milestones in life and accomplishments. She supported her family in all their endeavors.

Janet was instrumental in taking her family to church and instilled Christian values in her family. She taught Sunday School Classes and worked in Vacation Bible School at First Baptist Church in Seneca. Later she and Kenneth moved their membership to Swars Prairie Baptist Church where they were active members until health problems prevented them from attending.

Janet never met a stranger and would find out their life history in a short time. Her favorite color was violet/purple, wrote poems which have been published in the "Capper's Weekly", enjoyed butterflies, and always had indoor and outdoor plants and flowers.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth in 2017, son-in-law Don Drake, brothers-in-law Doug Tynon and Ronnie Rosiere and niece Stephanie Tynon.

Janet is survived by her children Beth Drake, Seneca, MO and Roger Chester and wife Cheryl, Wyandotte, OK. Sister Judy Rosiere, Welch, OK. Grandchildren Brittany Watson and husband Robert, Jena' Turner and husband Jonathan and Kristan Chester. Great-grandchildren Tadem Bridges and husband Ben, Hannah Linders, Lainey Linders, and Jordan Turner and wife Aricyn. Two Great-great-grandchildren Jackson and Jayde Turner. Nephews Scott Tynon and wife Tamara and Steve Tynon and wife Karla. Special neighbor and friend Jane Able and honorary grandsons, Robert Long and Gary Nelson along with many other extended family members and friends.
