Janet D. Clark

DOVER - Janet Delores (Osborne) Clark, 92, of Dover, passed away Sunday, January 25, 2026 at UPMC Memorial Hospital in York. She was the wife of Elvin (Bud) Eugene Clark, with whom she recently celebrated their 70th anniversary on September 16, 2025. In addition to her husband, Janet is survived by her son, Keith A. Clark and his wife Jane, of Kill Devil Hills, NC, two grandchildren, Andrew and Matthew, and four great grandchildren, Alexa, Gavin, Mia and Teagan. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Ryan, and her sister, Carolyn Sterner.
Janet was born on March 5, 1933, in York, PA and was the daughter of the late (Mary) Annabelle (Osborne) Wise. She spent her early years living on a farm in New Oxford with her mother and grandparents, where her early education was in a one room school house. Most kids grow up with pet dogs and cats. Her favorite pet was a little lamb. Later, she moved to the city of York where she attended and graduated from William Penn Senior High School (aka, York High) in 1950. She was always interested in athletics, whether being on the women's basketball team, rooting for the Bearcat men's basketball team or going to football games. She also enjoyed music and dancing, and like young girls her age, was especially fond of Elvis Presley, which she remained right up until her passing.
Her love of sports carried over from her high school years well into motherhood where she actively supported her son's participation in sports from little league on through high school and college, enabling her to combine her affinity for sports with her enjoyment of travel. As an adult, she developed a talent for bowling, participating in leagues in various cities where they lived and was active in bowling right up until just months prior to her passing. Her interest in sports was not limited to bowling. During football season, she could be found parked in front of at least one TV watching her favorite pro teams, openly questioning calls by the referees or play selections by the coaches. Annually, you could also find her smiling face as a competitor at the York Senior Games, where she could frequently be seen accepting medals for winning her events. She also furthered her early love of animals by breeding Yorkshire Terriers.

Janet was very fun loving to friends and family by her smile and teasing nature. She was also known for sharing her talents for the good of others. When they lived in Marietta, GA, not only was she a member of Roswell Street Baptist Church, she used her skill and affinity for bowling to "coach/teach" youngsters to bowl, many days spending long hours at the bowling alley until the overhead messaged board read "Janet, it's time to go home to fix dinner for your husband." She also turned one of her favorite pastimes, crocheting, into another avenue to share. What began as a craft, making afghans and blankets for which she received countless blue ribbons at the York Interstate Fair, turned into making literally hundreds of afghans which she then donated to veterans at VA hospitals in Lebanon, PA and at Walter Reed Hospital near DC.

As mentioned earlier she enjoyed traveling, not just in the United States but all over the world, Whether traveling by plane or RV with her husband for business or pleasure, she was considered the copilot and navigator.
Services and burial will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Dover, PA.

Sorry for your loss. Janet is in a better place now with no worries and no physical problems to hinder her in life. Now she can bowl that elusive 300 game without pain. Rest in peace now. Your bowling friend, Roger
