Petersen Family Funeral Home - NewtonJanet Audine Coffey, 63, died peacefully in her sleep on March 25, 2026 at Paramount Community Living and Rehab in Newton, KS. Janet was born on December 17, 1962 in West Allis, WI to Jerry Karl Coffey and Audine Pearl Buckle Coffey. Janet has a son, Dustin Ray Dean Coffey, of Oklahoma and three grandchildren: Teyha Makai, Tobias Ray Dean, and Titus Justice Coffey and a daughter in law, Maleka Noyes. She has a brother Steven William Coffey (Janice), of Whispering Pines, NC and 2 nephews and a niece. Her guardian is her Aunt Brenda Buckle Learned of Newton, KS. She has a host of loving cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Robert Jerry Coffey and an infant brother. She is also preceded in death by her co-guardian, Carolyn Delores Buckle Harrington, her uncle, John Roy Buckle Sr., an aunt, Sandra Ann Bateman Buckle and a cousin Cory Lynn Harrington.
Janet grew up in Wisconsin until her family moved to Arkansas City, KS on July 4, 1976. In May of 1998, she graduated from Arkansas City schools with her GED. When her precious son Dustin was growing up, her mom, Audine, Janet, and Dustin attended activities a little boy might like from monster truck shows to professional wrestling matches. Janet moved to Newton on December 17, 2002 to live at the Prairie View Group Home. She loved going to the The Caring Place to socialize. When she moved to Asbury Park in 2017, her hobby was coloring beautiful pictures of flowers and birds. She loved coloring long before it was an accepted adult hobby. She attended the First United Methodist Church in Newton, delighting in riding the bus to church. Janet loved taking car rides around Newton, dragging Main to see all the sights, but especially when her brother Steve would come from NC and drive her out to the nearby lakes. She loved coming to holiday dinners where she could see her cousins.
