Janet Sue Davis, age 87 of Long Beach, MS, passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2025.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Quinton and Emma Davis; her brother, Lowell Davis; and her sister, Martha Davis.
Janet is survived by her sister, Paula Copp; her nieces and nephew, Betsy (Ted) Coderman, Suzanna (Elliot) Schuster and Stephen Copp.
She was born in Merom, Indiana, and graduated from Wiley High School in 1956. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics from Indiana State University. Following college, she began her career at the county extension office, where she taught Vietnamese refugees how to sew—an early reflection of both her compassion and her lifelong love of needlework.
Her path later took her to Greenville, North Carolina, where she worked as a bookkeeper for several years. Afterward, she moved to Cape Coral, Florida, to be closer to her parents. She made a home there for many years and fulfilled a dream by opening her own fabric store. She went on to complete her bookkeeping career with Klockei Gruppe in Fort Myers, Florida.
Upon retiring, Janet devoted herself to caring for her parents until their passing. She spent a short time back in Indiana before returning to Florida, and in 2022, she settled in Long Beach, Mississippi, to be closer to her sister, Paula.
Janet was a gifted seamstress, capable of creating anything from delicate dresses to tailored coats. She found joy in reading, taking long walks, and sharing her talents with others.
