Janet Douglas

Janet A. Douglas, 91, of Lincoln, Neb., passed away with her loving family by her side on January 5, 2026. Born on July 6, 1934 in Seward, Neb. She was a former Administrative Assistant for the City of Lincoln – LLCHD. She was also a past community services director for Leadership Link. After her retirement (at age 80 years young!) she continued to be very active in the community by volunteering at The Lied Center for Performing Arts, participating in Breast Cancer Awareness walks and functions along with many other activities. She loved a good football or basketball game and was a long-time voraciousreader, she also loved crosswords and birdwatching. She adored her many dachshunds as well as all her "grand pets". Above all else was her love for and devotion to her family; she reveled in getting to be a "Gigi".

Though her journey with cancer was a long and arduous one, she faced it with courage – never losing hope or her positive attitude. Jann is survived by her children: Deena (husband, Russ Zierke) Douglas, Larry (wife, Barbara) Douglas, and Lisa Travena; grandchildren: Nicole Trevena (husband, Joseph) Flores, Abigail Trevena (Daniel Smithers) and Rachel Parks; great-granddaughters: Esme Flores, Inez Flores and Noa Smithers.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Verna (Peterson) Childers; brother, Edwin Childers; son, Mark J. Douglas; grandson, Nicholas Matthew Douglas; and great-grandson, Everett D. Flores.

A reception to celebrate Jann's life will be January 18, 2026, from 3 to 5 p.m. in the lower level reception room at Butherus Maser and Love funeral home, 4040 A St, Lincoln. Please use the west door.

In Lieu of flowers, Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society – Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, Nebraska Chapter or Capital Humane Society.
