Janet Lee Esser

Janet Lee Esser, age 72, of Erie passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2025. Born in Erie on February 8, 1953, she was a daughter of the late William and Rita (Breter) Esser.
Janet graduated from Villa Maria Academy, Villa Maria College, and Edinboro University with a master's degree in education. She loved working as a teacher and taught at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School starting in 1975 and retired from Our Lady of Peace School in 2020. During her summers she worked on Erie's waterfront at Bayshore Marine, the Carol Ann yacht and Rum Runners from 1975-1990. She enjoyed hockey and was a season ticket holder for all the Erie Hockey teams including the Erie Golden Blades, Panthers, and Otters.
Survivors include two brothers, William Esser, and his wife Karen, of Lake City, and Dr. Mark Esser, and his wife, Kathy, of Mount Laurel, NJ; nieces and nephews, Eric Esser, and his wife Christina, of Dillsburg, PA, Adam Esser and his wife Crystal, of Woodstock, GA, Dr. Cara Esser MD, of, Pittsburgh, PA, and Dylan Esser, of Mount Laurel, NJ; and great nieces/nephew, Hailey Marie Esser, Ryan Theodore Esser and Mckenzie Ruth Esser.
Friends are invited to call on Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 9 a.m. until the time of a memorial mass for Janet at 10 a.m. at St. George Church, 5145 Peach St., Erie, PA 16509.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
