Janet Ratliff Etheridge passed away March 3, 2026 at the age of 66. She was born June 29, 1959 to the late S.B. and Ernestine Ratliff.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose greatest joy in life was her family. She gave of herself freely and wholeheartedly, always ensuring that those she loved felt cared for, supported, and cherished. Her home was a place of warmth, comfort, and steady strength.

She especially treasured her role as “Nanna.” Nothing brought her more happiness than watching her grandchildren grow, celebrating their milestones, and cheering them on at every game or special event. She was their constant presence in the stands and in their lives. She was their biggest fan and fiercest supporter. They were truly the light of her life.

She was the rock of her family, a role she carried with quiet grace and unwavering love. Her strength seemed effortless, her kindness endless. Whether through a listening ear, a warm embrace, or words of wisdom, she had a way of making everything feel steady and safe.

She found special joy in baking and sharing that love with others. The kitchen was often filled with the sweet aroma of her creations, and even sweeter was the happiness she found in sharing them. Baking was one of the many ways she expressed her love thoughtfully, generously, and always with others in mind.

Choosing to retire early so she could devote more time to her grandchildren was one of her proudest decisions. To her, time spent with family was life’s greatest treasure.

She leaves a space in our hearts that can never be filled. Though we will miss her beyond words, we are deeply grateful for the countless memories she gave us, memories we will hold close and cherish forever. Her love remains the foundation of our family, and her legacy will continue to live on in each of us.

She is survived by her husband, Ronnie Etheridge; son, Brandon (Lisa) Etheridge; granddaughters, Kinley Etheridge and Colbie Etheridge; brother-in-law, David (Peggy) Etheridge; and sister-in-law, Barbara Etheridge.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home with Rev. Caleb Winningham and Bro. Randy deBrabant officiating. Visitation will begin at the funeral home in Selma at 1:00 p.m, prior to the service.
