Janet Elsie Hinkley, age 87, died December 16, 2025, at Hillsborough County Nursing Home in Goffstown, NH. She was born on October 2, 1938, in Brockton, MA, the daughter of William and Janet (Walters) Hinkley.
Janet was raised in Whitman, MA, leaving for Boston and then New York City to pursue her career. She worked for J. Aron & Company in Manhattan for many years, importing coffee into the United States. After retiring, she moved to Manchester, NH where she became a florist and opened her own shop.
Janet was a life-long lover of cats and adopted many over the years. Her beloved cat Sapphire was a source of comfort and remained with her nearly until the end of her life.
Janet was predeceased by her parents and sister Judith Ferguson Kimball. She is survived by her brother Billy Hinkley of Whitman, MA as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a memorial contribution to their local SPCA chapter.
