Hardly a day goes by that I don't think of Janet. I learned much from this outstanding friend and confidante who gave me her companionship over the few in-person years we had to enjoy, despite her illness. I have nothing but forever admiration and love for my friend, whose absence I feel regularly. One unique and wonderful person.

Janet's 3/11 Birthday Message:
Janet would appreciate that technology & I managed to delay this message which I prepared 3/11.
We enjoyed languages & often texted or DM'd each other during the day using such re: news, stories, etc. as reason to inject some Spanish, French or something new.
To that end:
Querida amiga, a pesar de que no volveré a verte, todos los días te hablaré en silencio (y en voz alta cuando conduciendo) porque no me resigno a la ridícula idea de no volver a verte.

Dear friend, in spite of the fact that I will never see you again, every day I will talk to you in silence (and aloud when driving) because I am not resigned to the ridiculous idea of never seeing you again.
Still miss you very much.

Janet was family.
We shared meals, celebrated holidays, birthdays, weekends. Here are Manuel & Janet w/mom Mother's Day 2016.
Janet had ret'd from Barcelona's El Clásico a few wks earlier. 'Though Barcelona lost, it didn't matter because, as shown here, Janet proudly sported her Barcelona shirt. She was one of the team's most ardent fans and her dedication & delight were always contagious.
We still miss her very much.

Here's a heart-warming photo of Janet's car which was parked in front of my house every weekend.
We just hung out, got things done, and of course had lunch.
I drove because I like driving and Janet knew she was a lousy driver so it worked out well. But as we listened to the radio, it was clear she knew her classic rock!

Over at the house for a soccer match (Barcelona of course) with Lana when just a pup. Lana & Janet were forever bonded and that day with us, Lana, & her Barcelona team, all was good. I so miss those days and my closest friend.

The Best: Janet flew to Barcelona alone to see La Liga. Knew nothing of the language but had a great time! This cool woman is on the left w/her new friends!

Janet Hudson:
* Oxford comma user, excellent tipper, dog lover, Barça super fan, and Twitter cohort who considered us friends.
* Smart, cool, fun, quick-thinking, insightful, and above all, kind.
Taken from us way too soon.
