Janet Lee Jensen

Janet Lee Jensen (1933–2026)

Janet Lee Jensen, affectionately known as "sweet Janet Lee" by her husband,

passed away on January 26, 2026, at the age of 92. Born August 19, 1933, in

Flint, Michigan, she was the cherished only child of Lawrence "Smitty" Smith and

Margaret (Mishler) Smith.

In 1978, she married Leonard "Zeke" Jensen. Following their marriage, she

became a stepmother to five, and her family eventually grew to include many

cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. As a grandmother, she was

known for her love of Christmas; her annual celebrations included food, games,

music, and a stunning display of decorations featuring her amazing collection of

Santas.

From a young age, Janet found her greatest joy during summers at the family

home in Rose Center. She spent countless hours swimming and riding bikes

alongside her lifelong friend, Joy. Professionally, she was proud to work for a

period of time at General Motors Truck and Bus in Pontiac. Janet was also

deeply committed to her community, serving actively with the Michigan State

University Extension, the Rose Township Cemetery committee, and various other

charitable organizations. Later in life, she enjoyed hosting card parties and

visiting with friends.

At Janet's request, no memorial service will be held. She will be laid to rest in

Rose Center Cemetery. Those wishing to honor her memory may make
