Janet S. Johnson, a dedicated and beloved wife, mother and grandmother, and an esteemed dental surgery assistant, passed away on March 30, 2025, in Stony Brook, New York. Born on December 16, 1952, in East Islip, New York, Janet made significant contributions throughout her life, and she was known for her compassion and care.
She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Vandorn Johnson, and their children, Vandorn and his wife Sharon, Mark and his wife Linda, and Jennifer Mensah and her husband Jim. Janet was also a beloved grandmother to Vandorn V, Amelia, Liam, Claire, Connor, Lydia and Derek. Janet also cherished her relationships with her sister, Susan, and her brother, Craig. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, John and Harriett Rogers, whose memory she carried with her throughout her life, honoring their legacy through her dedication to family and her profession.
The family invites friends and community members to pay their respects during visitation services at Mangano Family Funeral Home of Middle Island, located at 640 Middle Country Rd, Middle Island, NY. The first visitation will be held on April 6, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM, followed by a second visitation from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM. A Mass in her memory will be celebrated on Monday, April 7, 2025, at St. Louis De Montfort RC Church, 75 New York Ave., Sound Beach, NY, beginning at 11:30 AM. Following the funeral mass, family and friends will proceed to Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, where Janet will be laid to rest.
Janet S. Johnson's influence will be felt by all who knew her, and her legacy will continue to inspire those she leaves behind. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
