Janet Ray Kueny, 61, of Sioux City, IA passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2024.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 22, 2024, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. with a memorial service at 7 p.m. with Father Joe Dillinger officiating.

Janet, the daughter of Orvan Heckt and Marlene Cornish, was born March 10, 1962 along with her twin sister Jackie. Janet grew up in Sioux City and graduated from West High School with the Class of 1980.

On April 10, 1981, Janet was united in marriage to John C. Kueny in Sioux City and two sons: Mic and Jacob were born to this union. Janet made her home in Sioux City and worked various jobs throughout her career including: Aalfs Manufacturing, Pech Optical, Stockmen’s, and was the owner of Puff Magic. The job she loved most was being the lunch lady for the Sioux City Community Schools.

Janet’s hobbies included: fishing, stock car racing, and camping. Above all, she loved family gatherings and her beloved dog, Jet.

Janet is survived by her husband John Kueny: two sons: Mic Kueny and Jacob Kueny; seven grandchildren: Korbin, Tayler, Railey, Isabella, Skylar, Kyler, and Chloe; one great granddaughter Everly; four siblings: Jeff Underwood, David Heckt, Jackie Steele, and Bobbie Underwood; beloved friend Theresa Schwarte; and numerous nieces and nephews who knew her as AJ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother Jay Heckt; and her father-in-law, Lester Kueny who she cared for.
