Janet Carol Meyer was born March 5, 1947, in Howells, Nebraska. She was united with Christ through Holy Baptism on April 6, 1947. She was confirmed in her baptismal faith on March 26, 1961. She married Walter on July 18, 1970 and they were married almost 30 years. Together, they were blessed with four children, Jonathan, Jennifer, Jill and Joel. All continue their parents' tradition of serving the Church.

Janet was a church musician, playing organ, piano and handbells as well as singing in and directing the church choir. She was also a Lutheran school teacher, teaching pre-school and grade school, retiring in 2012 at Zion. She served at Trinity Lutheran Church and School, Deer Creek, IA, Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Emma, MO, and Zion Lutheran Church and School, Walburg, TX. She also taught at Georgetown ISD's early childhood center.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Regina Meyer, and husband, Walter. She is survived by her brothers, Gary and Delwin Meyer; children, Jonathan & Laura Meyer of Enid, OK, Jennifer & Norm Tanner of Kissimmee, FL, Jill Meyer of Georgetown, TX, Joel & Rebecca Meyer of Brownstown, IN; grandchildren Alyssa & Nick Laser, Megan Meyer, Christopher Meyer, Miriam Meyer, and Isaac Meyer and great-grandson Jameson Laser.

Janet fell asleep in Christ on February 10, 2026, at the age of 78. Blessed are those who die in the Lord from this time forth and forevermore.

A Celebration of Janet's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 16, 2026 at Zion Lutheran Church.

A private inurnment will be held at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, where Janet will be laid to rest next to her husband, Walter A. Meyer.
