Janet Miner Obituary
Janet Louise (Lutz) Miner
October 30, 1946 - November 8, 2025
Janet Louise (Lutz) Miner passed away on November 8th, 2025 at her home in Lebanon, Oregon surrounded by her family.
Jan was born October 30th, 1946 in Lebanon, Oregon to Carl and Rose (Kester) Lutz. Jan grew up in Lebanon graduating from Lebanon Union High School in 1964. Jan attended Oregon State University before marrying her lifelong love, Dan Miner Sr. on November 20th, 1965 in Sweet Home, Oregon. Dan and Jan made their home in Lebanon with their two children, Dan Jr. born in 1970 and Trish in 1975. Jan began her long career at Morse Bros., now Knife River, in 1965 and devoted 42 years there before retiring in 2007. Jan cherished her long-time coworkers and their families. After retiring, Dan and Jan enjoyed traveling the US, but mostly Jan wanted to be close to home where her family was.
Jan's greatest joy came from being surrounded by family and friends. She was happiest in the presence of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she was always quick to brag about all of their accomplishments. Jan was a Lifetime Member of the Rollin' Oldies car club and enjoyed the outings and friends the club brought (but mostly to indulge her husband's love of hot rods and old cars). Jan spent many hours collecting her family's heritage and could quickly find the age or relationship of thousands of relatives you might want to know.
Jan was preceded in death by her mother, Rose; father, Carl; and stepmother, Helen. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dan Sr.; son, Dan Jr. of Oregon City; and daughter, Trish (Jeremy) Weber of Lebanon. She is also survived by grandchildren, Lauren, Karalyn, Madelyn and Liam; great-grandchildren, Alice, Isla and Cade; siblings, Lola Stephens, John Lutz, Jerry Lutz and LynnDee (Greg) Bauer; and step-siblings, Donna (Art) Friesz, Gary Stephens, Sam Stephens; and numerous nieces, nephews, and brothers and sisters-in-law that she equally considered siblings.
A memorial service will be held at Huston-Jost Funeral Home at 11 a.m., Monday, November 24th, with a reception to follow at the American Legion Club at 480 South Main St in Lebanon. In lieu of donations, the family would suggest to treat yourself to a nice meal or fill your hummingbird feeders as those were favorite things Mom would have enjoyed with you!
