Janet Pugh Obituary
Published by Legacy on Nov. 7, 2025.
Janet Marie Miller Pugh, 92, of Suwannee County, Florida was called home to the Lord while at Solaris Healthcare in Lake City, Florida on November 5, 2025.
Janet was born in 1933 to Burton Emig and Edith Ball Emig in York, Pennsylvania.
She was raised in a large, close knit, Catholic family, with 9 children, who all learned to work hard from a very early age just to survive together. She attended catholic school and then maintained a job in a textile factory for most of her life in York.
While working in the factory, Janet met and married Bob Miller, a dock worker, who was raising three small children. Janet took great joy in helping to raise Richard, Jean Ann and Robert Miller. Later, she was thrilled to enjoy all their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. As a great grandmother, Janet even volunteered at their schools. Janet loved all of those children tremendously.
Many years later, after Bob and his three children had all been called home to the Lord, Janet began the beautiful last chapters of her life. She moved to Florida and married Jake Pugh. Living in rural Suwannee County, Florida was a world away from the city life of York, Pennsylvania. It certainly was a culture shock.
Janet began attending San Juan Mission, where Jake's children and grandchildren were all actively working in the Lord's vineyard at San Juan Mission. Soon Janet became known as "Aunt Janet" to all; children and grownups alike. She became an active member of the Ladies Guild. Aunt Janet's most treasured ministry was overseeing the making of treat bags for all of San Juan's children at many of the holidays. She also wrapped and gave out personalized gifts for each child and even some of the adults for the yearly Epiphany-Three Kings Day. All of that was done in the name of the Ladies Guild and with some help from other Guild members. Most of the gifts and much of the candy was supplied by Aunt Janet. She loved the Lord through loving and providing joy to His children at San Juan.
Due to declining health, Aunt Janet's last few years were spent at Solaris Healthcare in Lake City where she enjoyed her Bingo.
A visitation will be held on Monday, November 10th at 2PM at Epiphany Church in Lake City. The funeral Mass will follow at 3PM at Epiphany. Interment will immediately follow in Pugh Family Cemetery at 5188 200th Street Lake City, Florida (in Suwannee County). All are welcome to gather for refreshments and sharing after the interment.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: San Juan de la Cruz Building Fund in Memory of Janet Pugh. 304 Plant Avenue S.E. Branford, FL 32008
Eternal rest grant unto Janet, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace.
