Janet Lynn Quam, 39 of Des Moines and formerly of Olaf, IA passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at her home in Des Moines.
A service to honor her life will be held 11:00am Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at Conner Colonial Chapel, 1008 1st Ave. South, Northwood, with Rev. Randy Baldwin of One in Christ Lutheran Parish officiating. Inurnment will be in Silver Lake Lutheran Cemetery, rural Northwood.
Visitation will be held from 9:00am until the service at the funeral home.
Janet Lynn Quam was born December 14, 1983 in Albert Lea, MN in the middle of a snow storm. She was the daughter and second child of Orval and Kathryn (Traeger) Quam. Growing up in
Glenville, MN and later Olaf, IA, Janet attended The Iowa Braille and Sight Saving School in
Vinton, IA, where she excelled as a student. She received multiple awards during her time there, setting the stage for her career as a proofreader, where she dedicated herself to editing and correcting numerous braille books over the years.
Though Janet faced various challenges in life, her upbeat spirit helped carry her through. She found joy in the company of her family and friends, relishing dinner outings and trips to Michigan. Her two beloved cats were her cherished companions, receiving all the love and pampering they deserved.
Janet's resilience and loving spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
Surviving are her dad, Orval (Janet I.) Quam of
Glenville, MN; brother, Bruce of Mason City; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Preceding her in death are her mom, Kathryn in 2012; maternal and paternal grandparents; and great-grandparents.
Janet's memory will continue to shine brightly in our lives, a testament to her strength, love, and the lasting impact she made on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
