Janet L. Roberts, age 86, of Wausau passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at Mountain View Terrace in Wausau with her family by her side.
Janet was born on February 19, 1939 in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin to the late Arthur and Emmeline (Kruthoff) Schumacher. On October 13th 1962, after a courtship that began by writing letters while he was in the military, Janet was united in marriage to Edward "Johnny" Roberts, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, in Fenwood. Together, Ed and Janet shared over 50 years and had four wonderful children.
Janet was a devoted fan of the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers. A talented and passionate card maker, she also enjoyed the occasional trip to the casino. She could often be found in the Island Place commons area, playing games and sharing laughter with friends who became like family. A faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Janet generously gave her time volunteering with the Moms and Tots program. She cherished time spent with her children and their significant others, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and found great joy in the peace and beauty of the Northwoods.
She is survived by her children Thomas Roberts, Wausau, Todd (Shanna) Roberts, Minocqua, Terry (Christine) Roberts, Cibolo, TX, and Tracy (Michael) Geiger, Rib Mountain; five grandchildren, Samantha Roberts (Tim) and Andy (Jess) Roberts, Natalie (Dane) Fischer and Rebecca Geiger, and Ashlyn Roberts; great-grandchildren Kylie, Kadance and Deckard Roberts. Janet is further survived by her sisters Diane Zuelke and Linda Habeck; brother-in-law Glenn Rusch; sister-in-law Sharon Schumacker and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Janet is preceded in death by her loving husband who passed away in 2012. She is also preceded in death by her siblings Carolee Rusch, Curly Schumacker, Jerry Schumacher and infant sister Marie, brothers-in-law Gary Habeck and Rod Zuelke.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 501 Stewart Ave, Wausau. Visitation will take place from 9:00 Am until the time of service at the church on Wednesday.
