Janet Sausker, nee Richards, died on March 24, 2026 at the age of 87. She was a graduate of the University of North Dakota with a degree in education. She was also a very active member of Pi Beta Phi. While in college she met and married Larry Sausker and his career in the Air Force took them to Oklahoma, Texas, California, and Colorado where Larry retired from the military. After being widowed at the young age of 35 she later moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico. She worked in retail, but her primary career passion was her work as an artist. Her watercolors, pastels, and acrylics were shown in several galleries, and she was a member of the art league.
Janet was funny, creative, and fiercely independent. She loved dogs, reading, solitaire, martinis, and time with her children—not necessarily in that order. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her son Kevin, his wife Karen, her daughter Becky, her husband Jeff, her brother-in-law Bill and sister-in-law Sue.
Janet requested that no service be held and no flowers be sent. Any who wish to commemorate her amazing life can support the local arts or donate to a local arts program.
