MONTICELLO - Janet K. Sebens, 82, of Monticello passed away at 6:54 a.m. Monday (July 7, 2025) at Anthem Memory Care, Savoy.
Janet was born on Aug. 17, 1942, in Decatur. She was the daughter of Dale and Lenore (Tussing) Boyd. She married James "Jim" Sebens on Sept. 30, 1960, in Argenta. He passed away on Oct. 5, 2019.
Janet is survived by her son, J. Brian Sebens of Mansfield; daughter, Julie M. Boone of Linton, Ind.; grandchildren, Darren (Jennifer) Sebens of White Heath, Brianna Boone of Linton, Eric (Leslie) Janssen of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Kelli Ward of Bloomington; great-grandchildren, Dylan and Wyatt Sebens, Mackenna Ward, Aidan Janssen, Kingston Boone and Hudson Dalton; brothers, Dan Boyd and Jim Boyd, both of Galveston, Ind.; and sister, Linda Boyd of Mahomet.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and daughter-in-law, Debbie.
Janet was a housewife, worked in insurance, and was a schoolteacher at Monticello Christian Academy.
She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Monticello and the Oreana Baptist Church.
Janet loved playing numerous musical instruments. She played the organ and piano at both churches along with directing the choir. Janet also enjoyed sewing.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, July 11, at Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Friends Creek Cemetery, Argenta.
Memorials may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church of Monticello or the Oreana Baptist Church. Condolences may be sent to the family at mackey-wrightfuneralhome.com.
