Publish in a newspaper

Janet Taylor Sigler, 79, of Williamstown, WV, passed away July 29, 2025, at Eagle Pointe Healthcare Center with her beloved husband, Phil, by her side. Her joy for life and energetic personality will be missed, and she will be remembered by all for her dedication to God, her family and friends, her country, and the Florida State Seminoles Janet was born August 16, 1945, in Hammond, IN, a daughter to the late R. William "Bill" and Esther Taylor (Papach). She moved to DeLand, FL, at age 13 and attended and graduated from DeLand High School before moving to Tallahassee to study business education at Florida State University. She then lived and worked in Chicago, IL, and Jacksonville, FL, where she began her long and varied teaching career, educating students in subjects from ESL, to technical writing, to US citizenship. It was there she met her late husband, Doyle, thus igniting her love for travel as she moved around the USA and overseas as an NCIS wife. Retirement took her back to Tallahassee, where she worked at the Florida State University Foundation for 10 years. Janet later moved to Sterling, VA, to live closer to her older daughter, where she was blessed to meet her husband, Phil. They moved to Williamstown, WV, where they welcomed countless visits from family and friends. During their 12 years of marriage, they made many wonderful memories together traveling from California, to Europe, and to parts in-between, and enjoyed life. Janet had fond memories of her various homes in Florida, New Jersey, Virginia, Japan, Alaska, and North Carolina, where she was well known for her laughter and fabulous dinner parties. She enjoyed cooking and sewing both clothing and home décor, and she especially admired Asian art and furniture. She delighted in traveling the USA and around the world, and she loved watching and attending Florida State football and baseball games to cheer on her Seminoles. Most of all, Janet cherished spending time with her family and many friends. Surviving Janet is her husband, George Philip "Phil" Sigler III; daughters, Sharon Edwards (Will) of Arlington, VA, and Elizabeth Cone (Bryan) of Asheboro, NC; and grandchildren Erik, Caroline, Kathryn, Justin, Adelaide, and Winnie. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Doyle E. Young, and sister, Patricia Holder. Visitation will be held at Allen-Summerhill Funeral Home in DeLand, FL, Wednesday, August 6th from 5:30 pm - 7 pm, followed by a Rosary Service. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Thursday, August 7th, at 10 am, immediately followed by burial at Oakdale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Doyle E. and Janet T. Young Endowed Memorial Scholarship via the FSU Foundation at Florida State University. Family and friends are also encouraged to learn the FSU fight song and cheer on Janet's Seminoles this year in her honor.
