Janet L. Thames, 72, of Hartford, passed away Sunday, April 27, 2025 at Bronson Commons in Mattawan. Services will be held noon Friday, May 2 at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma where the family will receive friends beginning one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery in Hartford. Those wishing to leave an online message of remembrance may do so at www.duffieldpastrick.com. Janet was born August 1, 1952 in Carter County, Kentucky to Earl and Vicie (Bryant) Brown. She was a Certified Nurses Assistant for 17 years at Bronson Commons in Mattawan, retiring in 2021. Janet was caring and sympathetic, always went above and beyond to care for her residents. In her final months, the same care facility she worked at, was able to care for her. To Janet, family time was her hobby. She didn't take a lot of time for herself. She was crafty, artistic and everyone truly loved her laugh and heart of gold. Janet is survived by her husband Danny, whom she married November 13, 1971; her daughter Heather (Nathan) Ecker of Coloma; a son Andrew Thames of Hartford; siblings, Rose Blackston of South Haven, Charlotte Kyipers of Bangor, Al Brown of Benton Harbor, Alice (Kirk) Dale of Hartford, and David (Christine) Brown of South Haven. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Mackenzie, Kiersten and Grant Ecker, along with numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Jerry Brown.
