Janet E. Wert, 90, of Denver, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2025, at home in Denver. Born June 6, 1935, in Ephrata, Pennsylvania, Janet was the daughter of the late Paul G. & Mae F. (Frees) Griffith, and the loving wife of Howard J. Wert until his passing in 2020.
Janet embarked on her professional journey shortly after graduating from Reamstown High School in 1953. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to open her own beauty salon in Reamstown in 1964, a venture that showcased her talents and love for hairdressing. In 1962, she pursued formal education in hairdressing, which laid the foundation for her successful career. After many years of serving her clients, she transitioned to Science Press, where she worked in the cut-out department before becoming a proofreader. Janet dedicated 25 years to Science Press, continuing her work until her retirement in 1988. A member of the East Cocalico Church of the Brethren, Janet was known for her people-oriented spirit and her creative skills. She enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including crocheting, cooking, baking, and sewing, all of which were infused with love and meticulous attention to detail. Her spirit will undoubtedly continue to shine through the lives she touched and her enduring legacy in the hearts of her loved ones.
Janet is survived by her two daughters, Sheri Ann, wife of David Wolf of Ephrata, PA, and Lori S. Wert of Denver, PA. She cherished her role as a grandmother to three grandchildren: Patrick, Jason, and Brian. Additionally, Janet took great pride in being a great-grandmother to nine great-grandchildren: Austin, Taihgan, Hailey (Blaine), Jocelyn, Alexis, Ethan, Ashton, and Braxton. Janet is preceded her in death by her grandson, David Wolf, Jr., and her two brothers, Clarence and Larry.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Janet's life during the viewing on January 7, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 AM, at the Gravenor Sipler Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, located at 100 W.
