Janet Marie (Kaul) Williamson, beloved mother, wife, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2024 at the age of 69. Born on May 2, 1955 at Weston County Hospital in Newcastle, WY. She was the third child and only daughter to Gerald “Mort” Kaul and Maxine (Whetham) Kaul. As a child she was involved in Brownies and the Girl Scouts for a time, but she found a passion for music and the alto saxophone and was involved in the school bands: concert, swing, pep, and marching before graduating from Newcastle High School in 1973. in 1977 she accepted an offer from Carter Mining in Gillette to attend Casper College and received an associate's degree in Mining Technology. Janet worked to weld the first shovel for that mine, an event which brought her whole family to Gillette for the celebration of the completion; even her grandparents from Nebraska were in attendance. It was while working for the mine that she met the love of her life, James “Jim” Williamson Sr. and the couple were subsequently married in Las Vegas, NV. In marrying Jim, she became a mother to his two children from a previous marriage, Walter Williamson and Andrew Williamson. And she brought her only child James Williamson Jr. into the world on January 13, 1984. She continued her work at the mine until 1985 before eventually going to work at the new Wal-Mart that came to town. Janet took her work very seriously and worked many jobs for Wal-Mart, her favorite was in loss prevention. She continued work there until her retirement on May 1, 2020. Janet was a strong, kind, and selfless person and will be deeply missed by her loving husband, Jim, her cherished children, Walter and his wife Amanda, Andrew and his wife Jen, and her son James, the grandchildren that she loved so deeply, Eric, Adam, and Justin, as well as countless friends and family. A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 AM on November 8, 2024 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Gillete, WY. She will then be laid to rest at Black Hills National Cemetary in Sturgis, SD following the service. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the charity of your choosing in Janet’s name.
