Janet Austin Wood, 90, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 13th, 2025 with her family by her side. A funeral will be held at Wilkerson Funeral Home, Monday August 18th, 2025, at 11:00AM, with Pastor Ron Tuck officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Janet was born in Rockingham County to the late William Benjamin and Bessie Austin. She retired from Miller Brewery after 18 years of service. She was a member of Lawsonville Road Baptist Church. Janet spent countless hours tending to her flowers, sitting on her porch and spending time with friends and family. She will be remembered as a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend, she will be missed tremendously.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Edna Fulp and Ida Orr as well as her son John (Johnny) Clifton Fain Jr.
She is survived by her husband William “Leon” Wood; her children, Mark Fain and Brandi Wilson; Grandchildren, Joshua Clifton Fain, Hayden Wilson; Extended Family, Jennifer Bates, Johnny Wood, Rhonda Somers, Kim Wood Boyles, Shane Wood and Craig Wood; Sister Janice Minyard; Brother, William “Sonny” Austin as well as several special nieces and nephews.
