Janett Brush Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 29, 2023.
Memorial Donations can be made directly to Olinger Chapel Hill, 6601 S Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO 80121.Janett DeLourdes Adams Brush was born on Friday, January 13, 1928 to DeLourdes Marie Hart Adams and Dale John Adams at home in the 2800 block of Elizabeth Street in Denver, Colorado. She was a very loving mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, great aunt and friend who always had a big smile and an equally big hug for anyone she greeted. First and foremost, she loved people and she always went the extra mile to make sure they knew it. She could strike up a conversation with anyone including strangers where ever she was. She had a great memory and a quick wit.
Her early years were full of family and joy even though it was a time during the great depression. The family moved to a brick duplex on 33rd and Tejon where they lived with 8 family members in a two bedroom upstairs second story unit. Even though times were tough, her memories of the joy and struggles of the time were always filled with love and joy. She always recalled the Denver Mafia was in the neighborhood but they never bothered anyone. The family would hear gunshots and her parents always told the kids it was just a car backfiring. They moved to the 1200 block of South Emerson Street and she had fond memories as a teenager of riding the streetcar in downtown Denver to go to a "picture show" with her girlfriend Pauline. They also loved to roller-skate at the local roller rink. At 22, she married Charles Eddy Brush on August 27, 1950 and their daughter was born 9 years later. They also had experienced the sadness of a stillborn daughter in 1955.
Janett had several jobs over the years. During World War II she worked at the Denver Remington Arms Plant as a bomb booster tester. She also worked at Daniels and Fischer in the crystal department, at Royal Rubber Company and also at a luggage company putting the final touches on luggage before it went on the shelves. She also worked at Safeway frozen food and produce Warehouse in the office and then at an optical company filling orders for glasses and helping customers. In 2004 when she moved to Castle Rock with her daughter, she joined the Castle Rock Senior Center as a member and started volunteering at the front desk. There she met many friends and could remember their names and phone numbers right away. She was a Brownie/Girl Scout leader and loved to participate in anything for the girls. She enjoyed picnics in the mountains, monthly camping and fishing trips and the yearly family vacation to a Dude Ranch in Clark, Colorado just north of Steamboat Springs. She was ALWAYS crocheting and there are about 80 blankets with families in various places around the U.S.
A memorial service for Janett will be held Thursday, December 14, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary, followed by a reception from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
