Janice Balz Obituary
She was born October 14, 1937, in Louisville to the late Ardoth Allen and Denver (Bell) Allen. She was a member of Ralph Avenue Baptist Church.
The epitome of a doting wife and mother, Janice dedicated her life to creating a loving home for her husband of 68 years, Kenneth R. Balz, and her three sons. She and Ken set an extraordinary example for married couples everywhere. Janice was the heart of her family and loved gathering everyone in her home for holidays. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, attending their school activities and sporting events whenever she could. She loved them at every age but sparkled with joy most when holding each of them as babies.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her sons, Michael (Denise), Steven (Brenda) and Kevin (Amy) Balz; grandchildren, Mike (Nicki), Josh, Nic, Joe and Jacob Balz, Krissy Daniel (Brian), Jazmine Keith (Ish) and Jordan Stayton (Chance); and great-grandchildren Wyatt and Cooper Balz, Radley and Kensley Daniel and Eli and Caliee Keith.
The family would like to extend special thanks to her caregivers: Michelle Bright, Tammi Overall, Kenzi Peyton and Lori Topping.
Funeral services will be Monday, January 12, 2026, at nine a.m. at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway, with burial to follow in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be Sunday from 4–8 p.m. at the funeral home.
