Janice Bender Obituary

Published by Legacy on Sep. 26, 2024.
Janice Mae Bender was born on June 6, 1951 in Highland Park, Michigan and died on September 26, 2024 in Clinton Township, Michigan. Janice grew up in Detroit and graduated from Osborne High School in 1969. Jan spent her adult years living in California. There she worked as a bookkeeper. In 2007, she came back to live in Michigan to be with her mother and sister Katharine.
Jan enjoyed independent living. She like to research contemporary issues and build upon her knowledge. Jan was always grateful for help, but in return worked tirelessly to compensate for every assistance. Her passion was sewing. Her daily projects were quilt making. Her quilt covers reflected her creative seamstress skills. Her quilts are her ministry of good will. She made them themed to reflect the life interests of the recipients. We will always enjoy our quilts, stitched with Jan's love, and remember our jolly, thoughtful life time friend Jan.
Janice Mae Bender is predeceased by her parents Bernice and Theodore Bender and her brother Theodore, Junior. Celebrating her life are her sister Katharine and brother-in-law John as well as her niece Pati Macalla.
In lieu of flowers the family requests Memorial donations in Janice Mae Bender's name be made to: Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 31100 23 Mile Road, Chesterfield, MI 48047.
