Wichita, Kansas - Janice L. Born (McGlachlin) 85, devout Catholic, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, passed away May 25, 2025, at Ascension Living Wichita, KS. She was born November 20,1939, to William and Margaret (Reilman) McGlachlin in Newton, KS. She attended St. Mary's Catholic School and Newton High School. Janice was a homemaker, a mother to nine children, three stepchildren, 35 grandchildren and 74 great-grandchildren, with one on the way. She had a great love for babies, cuddling with her great-grandchildren right up to her death.
Janice married Alban F. Born on May 1, 1979, uniting her seven children from a previous marriage to his three children, for a family of 10.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 41 years, Alban; two babies, Mary and John Ramsey; brothers, Donald and Richard McGlachlin; brother-in-law, Jake Evans; and several brothers and sisters-in-law. She is survived by her sister, Wyanetta Evans; sisters-in-law, Margie McGlachlin and Jolene (Born) Schoenhofer. Her children, Pam (Bill) Paustin, of Texas, Janene (Doug) Patterson, Shari (Mark) Darland, Kimberly (George) Palmer; sons, Bill (Lucy) Ramsey, Jim (Terrie) Ramsey, Richard (LouAnn) Ramsey; stepdaughter, Kathy (Tim) Hickey; stepsons, Rick Born and Keith Born, all of Wichita.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m., Thursday, May 29th at St. Mary Catholic Church in Newton, with The Reverend Andrew Bergkamp, Celebrant. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, at St. Mary Catholic Church, with recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. Following the Rosary, the family will receive friends in the parish hall of the church. Burial will be in the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery Newton.
Memorials may be made to the St. Jude’s Children Hospital or St. Mary Catholic Church in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
