Janice Lynn Brown passed away at the age of 56 on September 24th, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Janice passed away in the warmth of her home in Ellicott City, surrounded by her loving family.
Janice was born in Baltimore, MD, on October 2, 1968. She and her husband, Glen, unknowingly went to the same elementary school together, in Maryland, before Janice moved away to various different parts of the country for much of her childhood.
As fate would have it, Janice's journey brought her back to Maryland where she wound up in a class together with Glen at Centennial High School. The rest, as they say, is history. After asking him out, they started dating. They got married. They raised three children, four dogs, and remained happily together for the rest of her life.
Janice & Glen did everything together. They watched shows together. They watched their children play sports and partake in hobbies as they grew up. They ate meals together. When Glen took photos of the kids playing sports, it was Janice that edited (and sometimes deleted) the countless photos. If they were ever apart, they talked on the phone together. But most of all, they went to Disney World.
Janice's love for Disney was legendary. As a young girl, her father Ron had taken her to Disney World, and she was instantly enamored with the magic of the parks. She would share many trips to Disney with her husband, her children, and many extended family members. Even Noah, otherwise known as "the dog" (because he is a dog) has been to Disney World. And the dog has been many, many times. To Janice, the people she loved, and the dog, Disney was a magical place where wonderful memories were made.
Janice brought that same magic to her family, in big ways and small. Whether it was something simple like packing a lunch, or balancing a checkbook, Janice's organizational prowess served as a guiding light for the whole family. As a testament to her organizational nature, we will simply say that she loved accounting. Seriously.
Therefore, her professional life was dedicated to the Howard County Public School System, where she served with distinction as the Bookkeeper and later as the Principal's Secretary at Oakland Mills High School. Janice's dedication to her work was matched only by her commitment to her colleagues, with whom she enjoyed many cherished happy hours.
As an avid reader, Janice found solace and adventure within the pages of countless books, each story a new journey for her inquisitive mind. Janice's greatest joy, however, was found in the laughter and embraces of her grandsons, whom she adored beyond measure. In her final, waning days, she still perked up at the sound of their voices, not wanting to miss out on one last chance to hold them tight.
Left to honor Janice and cherish her memory are her devoted husband of many years, Glen Brown; their proud children, Courtney, Jeremy, and Wesley; and her three beloved grandchildren, Lucas, Logan, and Landen.
