Our sweet mother, Janice Loretta (Davis) Allen, went to Heaven to live with Jesus on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 following a brief illness. She was born on May 23, 1940 to Eugene and Emma Ruth (Todd) Davis. Mom grew up and went to school in Ashland and then to New Castle High School. She was married for over 67 years to Wayman Allen, whom she married on October 4, 1957.

Mom played the piano at church and sang with the family quartet. She always wanted to be a teacher, so mom taught Sunday school and Children’s Church at “N” Avenue Church of God to many, many children. She attended Open Arms Church.

Mom retired from Henry County Hospital in 1986 where she worked the switchboard and in medical records. She also volunteered at God’s Grain Bin and the Pregnancy Care Center, for over 30 years, where she helped lots of young mothers.

She was a wonderful mother to four children. Two sons and two daughters, Elana Hope (Bruce) McCall, Martin Ralph Allen, who proceeded her in death, Douglas Eugene (Kristy) Allen and Dana Faith (Kurt) Kollmeyer. Family was the most important thing to her and she truly treasured each one of them. She made each one of us feel that we were special, because Jesus loved us. She left nine grandchildren, Dani Turner, Justin (Rachel) Browning, Amanda (Brandon) Salisbury, Kadi Allen (Jason Murphy), Nick (Chelsea) Allen, Jacob (Gabby) Allen, Isaac (Lacey) Allen, Jesse Allen, Abby Allen (Dylan Gorman) and her daughter-in-law, Genifer Allen.

Mom also had 20 great-grandchildren, Alijah, Akiyah, Kingston, Hayden, Gracie, Saylor, Becklin, Sullivan, Riley, Axel, Maggie, Eva, Braxston, Piper, Finley, Karter, Kade, Peyton, Hazel, and Kenaniah and two more on the way! She also has a lot of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and son Martin, mom was preceded in death by her mother and father-in-law, Taft and Lottie (Vincent) Allen; two sisters, India Larkin and Bonnie Kemp and a half-brother, Rudolph Todd. Also, a brother-in-law, Crandall Allen, as well as some nephews and great nephews.

Services will be held at 11:00am Monday, April 7, 2025 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastors Paul, Rick and Brock Davis officiating. Burial to follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00pm to 6:00pm at the funeral home. Mom loved flowers would want them at her funeral but if you feel inclined to make a donation in her honor instead of sending flowers, please choose from a couple causes dear to her heart, Diabetes Research Institute at www.diabetesresearch.org or Henry County Pregnancy Center, 415 S. Main St. Suite A, New Castle, IN 47362. You may express condolences or share memories of Janice at www.hinsey-brown.com.
