Sr. Mary Janice was my third grade teacher at St. Agnes many many years ago. We all loved her dearly. As a lifelong third grade teacher myself, I found myself each year urging my students to "enunciate distinctly" as Sr. Mary Janice had encouraged us to do. So many fond memories of her. May she rest in peace.

Sister Mary Janice taught our St Agnes class in 3rd, 5th AND 6th grades. Our 1963 St Agnes graduating class produced many highly successful citizens due in no small part to the love, expertise, dedication and devotion of Sister Janice during those early formative years. She taught us how to read to learn, world history, fractions, how to fold a letter when inserting into an envelope, what the word Sputnik meant and how to spell capitol when referring to Springfield. These and thousands of other moments of instruction are encased in my mind and I will forever be grateful. To teach and control a class numbering in the mid fifties without an aide takes one of God's special people. She was one of these special people called Dominican nuns and of all the teachers in my twenty years of education I believe her to be the best and without doubt my favorite.
