Janice Gryskiewicz, 83, of Stephen, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, January 8, 2026, at North Star Manor in
Warren, Minnesota, surrounded by the love of her family.
Janice Judith Yutrzenka was born on May 7, 1942, in rural
Argyle, Minnesota, the daughter of Mert and Irene (Dulinski) Yutrzenka. She was raised on the family farm near Argyle and graduated from Argyle High School in 1960. Janice met the love of her life, Donald Gryskiewicz, at a dance in Florian, and the two were united in marriage on June 3, 1961.
Janice and Donald made their home on the Gryskiewicz farm in rural Stephen, where they spent their entire married life together. Janice worked for several years as a teller at Argyle State Bank before devoting herself fully to farm life and raising their family. She was always helping wherever needed while caring for her home and family. At Donald's encouragement, Janice attended EGF AVTI and earned her truck driving certificate so she could further help with the farm.
Together, Janice and Donald enjoyed spending their winters in Mazatlán, Mexico, a tradition they shared for twenty-five years. After Donald's passing on September 20, 2017, Janice spent four winters in Mesa, Arizona. In recent years, she made her home at North Star Manor, first in assisted living and later in the nursing home.
Janice was a devoted member of Assumption Catholic Church. Her faith was important to her, and she shared it generously as a religious education teacher, Eucharistic Minister, and active member of the Ladies Aide.
She found joy in sewing and gardening and took great pride in being a founding member and organizer of the Birthday Club. Janice and Donald loved to polka together, and she especially enjoyed staying active - walking, biking, and keeping busy whenever she could.
Grateful to have shared Janice's life are her six children: Jill (Merle) Adolphson of
Argyle, Minnesota; Jackie (Richard) Schloesser of Fargo, North Dakota; Perry (Ashley) Gryskiewicz of Voorhees, New Jersey; Carmen (Shaun) Beauclair of Stephen, Minnesota; Jeff (Mary) Gryskiewicz of
Argyle, Minnesota; and Chris (Megan) Drennan of Buffalo, Minnesota; eighteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, with two more on the way; her brother, Ray (Chris) Yutrzenka; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mert and Irene; her beloved husband, Donald; and her brothers, Tom (Judy) Yutrzenka and Ted (Janet) Yutrzenka.
