Janice Hussey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bevis Funeral Home - Tallahassee on Feb. 5, 2025.
Janice Lee Hussey, 88, of Wakulla Station passed away peacefully as a record-breaking snowfall came down in Tallahassee, on Tuesday January 21st, 2025. She was born on October 12, 1936 to William Earl Self and Edith Mobley Self in Miami, Florida. This is where she and her late husband, Howard (Shorty), raised their children and had so many fond memories.
They moved to North Florida in the late 1970s where they became members of Providence Baptist Church, Grand Ridge, and Lake Ellen Baptist Church in Medart. After her husband's passing, she attended First Baptist Church of Wakulla Station, with her daughter Rose Mary, and son Howard Jr. Janice enjoyed singing in the church choirs and later enjoyed listening to her daughter, Rose Mary, singing in the choir.
Janice has now been reunited in Heaven with those who predeceased her, including her parents; siblings, Joyce, Jimmy, and sister-in-law Gay Self.
She is survived by her son, daughter-in-law (Amy), daughter, son-in-law (Allen) two brothers, Gene and Gary Self, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Janice spent her last year at Centre Pointe Rehabilitation Center, where she will be remembered by all who knew her for her heart of gold and playful disposition even when faced with aches and pains. She was always praying for others and praising the Lord.
The family would also like to thank the wonderful Staff of Centre Pointe who, not only took such wonderful care of her, but also made us all feel like family, too!
A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Wakulla Station on Monday, March 3, 2025 at 11:00 am. Lunch will be served following the ceremony. Janice will be interred next to her late husband at Lake Ellen Baptist Church Cemetery in Medart following lunch, for those wishing to attend.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International (www.gideons.org/donate) in support of their dedication to telling people about Jesus and by providing Bibles and New Testaments.
Breanna Green of Bevis Funeral Home (850-385-2193 or www.bevisfh.com) is assisting the family with their arrangements.
