Janice Johnson, beloved mother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on July 9, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Janice was born on August 20, 1957, in Richmond, Texas.

Janice was the seventh of nine children born to Homer and Jimola Johnson. From the very beginning, she embodied grace, strength, and compassion - traits that would define her life. An alum of Jack Yates High School, Janice went on to dedicated more than 20 years of service at Treemont Senior Living, where she cared for others with kindness and respect. After retirement, she continued her calling by caring for her beloved mother and later offering private home care to those in need. Janice lived a life of selfless love and unwavering faith. Her faith in God was her anchor, and she made sure those around her knew they were both loved and lifted in prayer. Through thick and thin, she gave her all - a true caregiver, and the heart of her family. She would give her last to help someone else and whether you were family, friend, or stranger, she greeted you with warmth and left you with wisdom. She spoke the truth with love, never hesitating to guide others toward the right path. Her days were made brighter by time spent with loved ones, watching her favorite daytime TV, and sending thoughtful texts or calls to check in or share words of encouragement. Her favorite song, "I'm Depending on You" by Shawn Jones and The Believers, captured her heart's cry - a life dependent on the Lord.

Janice is survived by her devoted daughters, Nicole and Victoria Johnson-Vega, as well as their father, Asencion Vega; her nephew and son in love, Anthony Meyers, also left to mourn her memory are her devoted sisters: Daphana Johnson and Denise Meyers; brother-in-law Anthony Meyers Sr.; her brother, Dean Johnson; and her niece Monique Smith. She was a proud great-aunt to Shay, Christiana, Raquel, Shawn, and Deante Smith, and leaves behind cherished great-grand nieces, nephews, and cousins who will continue to carry her legacy forward. She now rejoices in eternal rest, reunited in glory with her parents Homer and Jimola Johnson; her brothers Homer Jr., Alphonse, and Jesse B. Johnson; her sisters Glenna and Gloria Johnson; and her beloved nephew Roland Johnson. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, resilience, and unconditional love. Though she has departed this earthly life, her spirit, wisdom, and prayers will remain with us always. Services to celebrate Janice's life will be held at Unity Funeral Home.

Unity Funeral Home gives the family and friends of Janice Lee Johnson our deepest condolences at this time.

Favorite bible scriptures:
Psalm 23 (KJV)
1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's
sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil:
for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:
thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
